About this game
A hopscotch is chalked on a school playground, with a bench, a bin and two trees round the edge. Everything is drawn as small, chunky pixel art.
Split the room into Red and Blue. A child from each team comes up in turn, presses on the board, pulls back and lets go. Pulling further throws further, and pulling to one side aims to the other. A few dots show the start of the throw, and the child judges the rest.
The beanbag scores the number in the square it lands in, from 1 by the throwing line to 10 in the half circle at the far end. If it lands on a chalk line or off the hopscotch, it scores 0. The number floats up over the beanbag, and the throw is added to the team's line at the top: 4 + 9 + 0 = 13.
Press count in 1s to change the squares to 2s, 5s or 10s, so a game in 5s has squares from 5 to 50. Press totals shown to hide the totals. The throws still show, but each line ends in "= ?" and the class works out the sums. The totals come back when the game ends.
After 3, 5 or 8 throws each, the team with the bigger total wins.
Good for

- Practising counting in 2s, 5s and 10s
- A team game at the end of a maths lesson
