About this game
A globe turns until one country is in the middle, coloured orange. The class says which country it is, and someone types the name. As they type, a list shows the countries that match, so spelling isn't a problem. Tap one, or use the arrow keys and Enter.
A wrong guess gets red stripes on the globe, so the class can see where that country really is, and then they try again. Hint gives the first letter. Give up shows the name and moves on. At the end of the round the score shows how many countries the class named and which ones they missed.
Small countries like Singapore, Malta or Nauru get a ring round them so they're easy to find. The globe zooms in on them, but not so far that the land around them disappears.
Other names work as well: USA, UK, Britain, Holland, Ivory Coast, Czech Republic, Türkiye, Burma and East Timor. Capital letters and accents don't matter.
Choices
- Where. The whole world, or one region. Russia and Turkey come up in Europe and in Asia.
- Countries. Well known: big countries and ones most children have heard of. Every country: the tiny island nations too.
- How many. 5, 10 or 20 countries in a round, with no repeats.
