About this game
You fly a little biplane over a 3D globe. Each parcel has a place written on it: a country, a city such as Nairobi or Lima, or a famous place such as Uluru or Machu Picchu. Steer there and press Drop. The parcel floats down on a parachute and lands in the white ring under the plane.
The map stays north at the top, like an atlas, and the plane turns on it: ◀ and ▶ (or the arrow keys) turn it left and right. Continent and sea names are always on the globe. A bar under the plane says what it's over ("Over the Mediterranean Sea", "Over Africa") and which way it's flying, with a little compass. If you'd rather, the camera can follow behind the plane instead.
A parcel within 120 km of a city or place gets 3 stars. For a country, anywhere inside it gets 3 stars. If the drop misses, the camera flies up high to show where the parcel landed and where the place really is, with a line between them. The message says how far off it was and which way to go, for example "1,300 km from Lima. It's to the west. Lima is in Peru."
Flying uses fuel. Good drops fill the tank back up, and so does flying through a hot air balloon. The game ends when the tank is empty. Two good drops in a row double the points, three in a row triple them, up to five times. Going faster burns fuel faster.
The first parcels go to big, well-known places. After 4 parcels harder ones come in, and after 10 the hardest.
Choices
- Parcels go to. Countries, cities, famous places, or a mix.
- Where. The whole world, or one region. The North and South Poles only come up in World games.
- Game. Fly until the fuel runs out, or deliver 10 parcels with no fuel to worry about.
- View. North at the top, like a map, or behind the plane.
- Country names on the map. Off, to find places from the shapes of the countries. On, to see the names and which country the plane is over.
Help while flying
- A small world map in the corner shows where the plane is and where the balloons are.
- The compass button shows a yellow arrow on the ground pointing to the place, but that parcel scores half points.
- Zoom out to see more of the globe, or in to aim a drop.
Good for
- Practising where countries, capital cities and famous places are
- Compass directions: the game says which way the place was
- Distances: every drop says how many kilometres off it was
- Homework or a reward at the end of a lesson
