About this game
Split the class into two teams. Each team has a castle with a stone wall in front of it, and a catapult on the field.
On their turn, a team picks a small stone or a big boulder. A stone gets an easier question and knocks 2 blocks out of the other wall. A boulder gets a harder question and knocks out 4. The question comes up on the board, the team answers out loud, and you press Right or Wrong. You can show the answer first to check.
A right answer fires the catapult. The rock flies across the field and blocks tumble off the other wall. A wrong answer shows the right one, and it's the other team's turn. The first team to knock the other wall right down wins.
There are three places the questions can come from:
- Maths facts: times tables, division facts, number bonds to 10, 20 and 100, adding and taking away, and doubles and halves. The game makes these itself, so the answers are always right.
- My questions: type or paste your own, one a line, with the answer after a | or in a second spreadsheet column.
- Make questions: type a topic and pick a year level, and AI writes 12 easier and 12 harder questions with answers in Australian English. You can read through them, fix any that are wrong and delete any you don't want before you play. The sets are kept in your browser, so you can play them again next week.
Good for
- Revising a unit at the end of a lesson
- Times tables and number facts practice
- Getting a class to decide together how hard a question to take on
